DIE BOEKKLUB KOFFIEWINKEL EN PADSTAL

Die Boekklub

Behind an unassuming Karoo façade, Die Boekklub opens like a well-loved novel. Step inside and you’ll find warmth, conversation, and plates that speak of care and craft. This is where locals linger and visitors quickly feel at home. Expect honest food made with attention, comforting dishes, freshly baked treats, and flavours that feel familiar even if you’ve travelled far to find them. Die Boekklub is not just a place to eat; it’s a place to sit, to talk, and to let time soften around you, page by page.
The stoep is a very popular seating spot to see and experience the lifestyle of Merweville.

KAROO KOPPIE TEA GARDEN AND DELI

Karoo Koppie

Morning in Merweville often begins at Karoo Koppie, when the air is still cool and the town stretches awake. Here the coffee is strong, the smiles are easy, and the shelves hold small delights worth pausing for.
Light meals, sweet bites, and carefully made drinks make Karoo Koppie a natural gathering point – a place to refuel before the road calls again, or to simply watch the town go by. What makes it quietly remarkable is its integration with Aquaponics, where food and growing live in balance, as they have always tried to do in the Karoo. Guests are welcome to enjoy guided tours of the aquaponics system, learning how water, plants, and fish work together to create something sustainable and deeply in tune with the land. It’s the kind of spot where a quick stop turns into a long visit, without anyone noticing the time.

Service & Trading Hours Update – Effective Monday, 12 January 2026

Over the past three years, Karoo Aquaponics Merweville and the Karoo Koppie Tea Garden & Deli have grown into a small “oasis in the Karoo” – and we are deeply grateful for the support of our town and visitors.

Our aquaponics operation continues to run seven days a week in the background, as we keep growing and supplying fresh and dried medicinal herbs as well as essential oils .

At the same time, we are refining and transitioning our front of house operations so that the Tea Garden can keep serving the community in a more focused and sustainable way.
From Monday, 12 January 2026, our regular public trading hours for the Tea Garden & Deli will be:
Wednesday from 08:00 – 20:00
Friday from 08:00 – 20:00

Pre booked visits outside these hours:
We remain very much operational and here for you. If you would like to visit outside the above times – whether as a local resident, group or visitor to Merweville – we are happy to accommodate pre booked visits and functions where possible.

Please contact Sam on 083 415 6815 to discuss your needs.

Our special offers will also continue, including:
• Pensioners’ specials
• Meal of the Day offers

Please keep an eye on our social media posts for weekly updates.

Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping us build something lasting in our community.

We look forward to welcoming you – as always – with warm Karoo hospitality.
